Mr. Roy Lavon �Dumpy� Campbell, age 70 of Rome, GA died Monday, August 17, 2009 in a Rome healthcare facility.
Mr. Campbell was born in Floyd County, GA on April 6, 1939 the son of the late Roy Campbell and Margaret Momon Campbell. Mr. Campbell was retired from Lockheed-Marietta as a supervisor after 25 years of service. He owned the former Sinclairs service station in Armuchee. Mr. Campbell enjoyed working on old automobiles especially Volkswagons. In addition to his parents Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Campbell on August 21, 2008.
Survivors include his son Rickey (Rebecca) Davis of Armuchee; daughters, Dawn (Jody) May of Rome and Donna (Danny) Seckinger of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren, Jenna Thompson of Rome, Chris Seckinger of Villa Rica, GA and Bonnie Helton of Carrollton, GA; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter �Mack� Campbell of Raleigh, NC and Ronnie Campbell of Armuchee and a sister, Martha Haughton of Rome, GA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Cargle and Rev. William Camp officiating. Interment will follow in the East View cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are asked to meet Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at the Heritage Chapel and include the following gentlemen: Edwin Campbell, Jason Eskridge, Lee Van Houten, Chris Seckinger, David Willerson and Jeff Stanley.
