Mr. Roy Glenn Rea, 72, of 158-B Floral Dr., Cartersville passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Born June 5, 1935 in Russellville, Alabama, he was the son of the late William Albert Rea and the late Nellie Rebecca Colffield Rea. Roy had retired as a self-employed heating and air conditioning technician. He was a member of the Freewill House of Prayer and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William T. "Bill" Rea.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Rea; his son, Walter Hilliard; his daughters, Tonya Woody, Jackie Fields and Lisa Watters; his sister, Eunice Wright; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Keith Milner, Rev. Mack Evans and Rev. Rusty Mundy officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42.
Serving as pallbeareres will be Chris House, Dustin Rodgers, Jeff Dupree, Josh Mullinax, Malcolm Boss, and Tyler Boss. Pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Freewill House of Prayer to help with funeral expenses.
