Roy White

September 18, 1932 — December 27, 2009

Roy L. White, 77, of Cartersville and formerly of Catlin, Illinois, went home filled with the glory of the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2009. Born September 18, 1932 in Scotland, Illinois, he was the first-born son of the late Roy White and the late Nina G. Yontz White.



One of three children, Roy worked as an iron worker for the Esco Corporation of Danville, Illinois before retiring and moving to Cartersville. As an iron worker he built mining buckets to move rocks and welded. Roy was also an eight year veteran of the United States Army where he served as a drill sergeant. He was also a member of the Community Wesleyan Church in Euharlee. Roy loved horses, and he especially loved his Honda Goldwing.



Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Julia White; his four children, Lowell Dean White and his wife, Crista, of Champaign, Illinois, William V. White of Tolono, Illinois, Debra Sheahan and her husband, Mike, of Tolono, Illinois, and Kirk A. White and his wife, Ginger, of Lyerly, Georgia; his three step-children whom he raised, Leslie Lamb of Acworth, Steven R. Lamb and his wife, Stephanie, of White, and William E. Lamb, a retire United States Marine of whom his dad was very proud, of Smyrna; his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Ralph Jumps of North Fort Myers, Florida; his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Patricia White of Fithian, Illinois; a special aunt, Jane White of Chrisman, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two very special adopted family members, Obie and Paul; and his very special guard and buddy, Sammy Kaye.



A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Leon Smith and Rev. Carles Fletcher officiating.
