Royce Hobgood

Mr. Royce Hobgood, 81, of Fairmount, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Cartersville Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Rome, GA on October, 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Mollie Abrams Hobgood. Mr. Hobgood was a devoted member of Fairmount Baptist Church and member of Morning Star Lodge #349 F&AM in Fairmount, GA. Royce was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War where he earned the following medals: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, 2nd Korean Winter Campaign Medal, Korean Summer-Fall 1952 Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was owner and operator of Peachtree Battle Barber Shop in Atlanta for 37 years. He was others centered and a very giving man. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his son, Bobby Royce Hobgood; brothers, Thomas Davis, Alvin Leon Davis, Thomas Hobgood; sisters, Virginia Davis Temples, Agnes Graham Ray and Lula Graham Crider.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Howren Hobgood of Fairmount; daughters, Deborah A. Hobgood and her husband Robert Murfin of Inlet Beach, FL, Rebecca Hobgood Barfield and her husband Jason of Dallas; son, Ricky B. Hobgood and his wife Catherine of Powder Springs; sister, Betty Sue Davis Johnson; brother, Frank Hobgood; granddaughters, Brittany Geragotelis Gielen, Amy Geragotelis Wilkinson, Rachel Nicole Hobgood, Sophia Raye Barfield, Marisa Rayn Barfield; grandson, Daniel Joseph Hobgood; great-grandson, Cash Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Rick Langston and The Reverend Ronnie Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
