Ruby Broome

July 29, 1921 — November 6, 2006

Mrs. Ruby B. Broome, age 85, of 302 Edgewood Avenue, Rome, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 6, 2006 at a Tifton Hospital.Mrs. Broome was born on July 29, 1921. She was a longtime member of West Rome Baptist Church and of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. Mrs. Broome was also a former member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church for a number of years. She owned and operated the Edgewood Daycare Center for 30 years. Mrs. Broome took care of her disabled brother that was injured during World War II. She enjoyed going to the local nursing homes and entertaining the residence by playing her harmonica. Mrs. Broome was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved children and enjoyed cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip B. Broome. Also preceding her in death was two brothers, John James and Joe Voiles; two sisters, Mae Cody and Leonia West; and one grandson, Chad Jeremy Broome in 1986.Survivors include two sons and daughters in-law, Phillip Jerry and Sheila Ann Broome of Cave Spring and Dan and Mary Broome of Tifton; one daughter and son in-law, Diana and David Agan of Rome; six grandchildren, Phillip Jerry Broome, Jr. of Rome, Candice Cheri Broome of Cave Spring, Selena Tate of Cave Spring, Angela Shumate of Cave Spring, Dannette Casto of Chattanooga, TN and Josh Agan of Adairsville; eleven great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Broome's homegoing celebration was held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Draper officiating.
