Ruby Herndon

Mrs. Ruby Ann Vasser Herndon, age 83, of 37 Waterloo Court, Hiram, GA, died January 7, 2008, at her residence.

Mrs. Herndon was born in Floyd County, GA, on May 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur P. Vasser and Lillian Camp Vasser. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Herndon was a homemaker and enjoying crocheting and sewing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herndon is preceded in death by her husband on July 19, 1998, Rev. Joel Felton Herndon, to whom she was married on March 2, 1945; an infant son, Joel Felton Herndon, Jr. on August 25, 1947; a son-in-law, Leonard Gary Gore on April 21, 2003; five brothers, Robert Vasser, Harold Vasser, Donald Vasser, Charles Vasser, and A.P. Vasser, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Lou Smith, Jessie Stephens, and June Brock.

Mrs. Herndon is survived by a daughter, Linda Gore of Hiram; two grandchildren, Lynn Gore Brown and Kimberly Gore Eller; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Brown, Craig Eller, Kyle Eller, and Kayleigh Eller. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Clayton and Rev. Tommy Young officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Herndon will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and at other hours may be contacted at 37 Waterloo Court, Hiram, GA.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Friday by 1:30 P.M.: Donnie Stephens, Ken Brown, Sammy Shiflett, Tony Simpson, Mike Middleton, and Phil Smith.
