Rubye Ashmore

Mrs. Rubye Ashmore, 97, of Cartersville passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at her residence. Born in Statenville, Georgia on March 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Alfred B. Boone and Mittie Prine Boone.
Mrs. Ashmore was a member of Eagles Landing Church of God in McDonough, Georgia. Rubye was an avid reader, having read her favorite book, "The Bible" through over 150 times. Mrs. Rubye was a loving mother with a beautiful smile and was a high spirited woman said to be able to read the minds of her children. She was of sound mind till the day she died. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ernest W. Ashmore; a son, Harold Ashmore; and grandson Victor Brown. Mrs. Rubye and her husband, Ernest pastored 26 churches over the years during their ministry.
Survivors include her daughters, Edna Brown, Bobbie and Wayne Thornton, Rita and Elvis Hester and Emily and Otis Bryson; her brother, Benjamin and Dorothy Boone; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; 5 step- great grandchildren and 2 great-great step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Graceland Church with The Reverend Dr. Elvis Hester and The Reverend Emily Bryson officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Hester, Grant Thornton, Phil Bryson, Greg Bryson, Brent Smith and Wesley Hester. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael Ashmore, Taylor Bryson, Blake Bryson, Brandon Smith and Conner Bryson.
