Mr. Rufus Grant Duffey, age 51, of Rome, GA, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Duffey was born in Cobb County, GA on March 5, 1958, the son of Donald Duffey and the late Annie Clayton. He worked for over thirty years at Mayfield Dairy and went to Live Oak Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Duffey enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working in his yard, NASCAR, and was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan. Also, he loved Daytona Beach, drawing, and played the bass guitar. Mr. Duffey was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his mother Mr. Duffey was preceded in death by a brother, Benji Clayton and a nephew, Michael Cribb.
Survivors include his wife, Delaine Duffey to whom he was married on December 31, 1997; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tanya Duffey of Aragon, GA and Corey and Lara Peek of Rome; grandchildren, Heather Hyde of Aragon, GA, Kayleigh Wilkerson of Rome, Brylee Duffey of Aragon, GA, Shawn Lemaster of Rome, Jeremiah Peek of Rome, and Madison Peek of Rome; his father and step-mother, Donald and Sue Duffey of Rome; four brothers, Barry Duffey of Woodstock, GA, David Duffey of St. Louis, MO, Dale Duffey of Cave Spring, GA, and Talmadge Clayton of Woodstock, GA; and two sisters, Dorothy Cribb and Pam Crider both of Cave Spring, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 7:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Green officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel.
