Ruth Atkinson

Ms. Ruth G. Atkinson, 91, of Cartersville went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kathy Cares Hospice.

Born January 1, 1922 in Cartersville she was the daughter of the late John T. Gravley and the late Bulah Andrews Gravley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Atkinson and her six children. Ms. Atkinson was a homemaker. She was a member of Landmark Holiness Church. Ms. Atkinson was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a devout Christian woman and the strong leader of six generations of her family.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Vaughan of Cartersville, Ann and Jim Fox of White and Shirley Cross of Cartersville; her sister Betty Hufstetler of Cartersville; and her brother Robert Gravley of Cartersville; twenty five grandchildren, forty three great-grandchildren, twenty great great-grandchildren, one great-great great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend I.L. Smith and the Reverend Shane Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Shinall Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
