Mrs. Ruth Althea Cochran, age 71, of 72 Massell Drive Cartersville, GA, died Monday morning, June 28, 2004, in a Rome Hospital following an extended illness.Mrs. Cochran was born in Bartow County, September 12, 1932, daughter of the late Charlie Wofford and Floy Black Wade and had spent her early life there. She had resided in Rome and Floyd County for over 47 years prior to returning to Cartersville two and a half years ago. Prior to her retirement she had been associated with Trend Mills and Mohawk Industries in Calhoun. She was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Prior to ill health she loved working with her flowers, traveling, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wade.Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Cochran, Sr., to whom she was married June 30, 1951, two sons, Robert Cochran, Jr., and Ronald Cochran both of Rome, three daughters and a son in law, Diane and Steve Dempsey, Denise Brooks, and Doraine Johnson all of Rome, a brother, Lamar Wade of Euharlee, GA, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Althea Cochran will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2004 in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Smith and the Rev. Gail Hubbard officiating.
