Mrs. Ruth Hightower Henderson, 91, of Cartersville, widow of the late Lt. Colonel William H. Henderson, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Kathy Cares Hospice.
Born May 30, 1922 in Ludville, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late William E. Hightower and the late Mary Pettit Hightower. Mrs. Henderson was a resident of Cartersville for the past 47 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother who raised 7 children and was a devoted wife to Lt. Colonel William H. Henderson while he served our Country overseas during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. In addition to her parents and her husband of 43 years, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Marvin Henderson; sisters, Agnes H. Brendel, Alma Hightower, Cathie H. Bunch, Eva H. Hamrick, Ethel H. Bunch, Etta H. Kennedy, and Nellie H. Crowe; and brothers, Johnson, Compton and Willard Hightower.
Survivors include her daughters, Victoria H. Turner, and Janet E. Henderson, both of Cartersville; sons, James W. Henderson of Maryland, Danny Henderson and his wife Rachel of Euharlee, Jerry Henderson of Cartersville, and Ricky Henderson and his wife Janet, also of Cartersville; sister, Ola H. Otting of Cartersville; grandchildren, Dennis Henderson, Sandra H. Martin, Maggie H. Jolly, Israel Henderson, Jessica H. Cady, Sarah H. Long, and Chris Turner; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 2 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
