Ruth Tyler

Mrs. Ruth Virginia Simpson Tyler age 72, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in a local hospital.



Mrs. Tyler was born in Floyd County, GA on September 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Lloyd Simpson and Cleo Davis Simpson. She graduated from Johnson High School in 1956 and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tyler was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church. She was an artist, draftsmen, singer, avid reader, and achieved a hole in one in golf. Also, she enjoyed knitting and trivia pursuit. Mrs. Tyler�s main love was her children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all.



Survivors include her husband, Huey Tyler to whom she was married on January 14, 1956; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony Lee and his wife Randy Tyler of Cedartown and David Tyler of Rome; two daughters and a sons-in-law, Pam and Belton Shepard of Kingston and Mitzi and George Jeter of Chatsworth, GA; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Kathy Simpson of Washington State and Gene and Elaine Simpson of Washington State; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte Morris of Tulsa, OK, Elaine and Cecil Selman of Edgewater,FL, and Judy and Robert Westfall of Hazelhurst, GA; two uncles, Eugene Simpson of Silver Hill and Leroy Steele of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 19, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Graves officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 P.M. on Friday: Chuck Butler, Chip Selman, Jordon York, Paul Watson, Luke Weeks, and Justin Burnett. Honorary pallbearers will be David Tyler Jr.
