Sally T. Dowdy, 80, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born April 7, 1929 in Coal Hill, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William Clinton Thomas and the late Leora Hambright Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Andrew Leon Dowdy Sr.; her son, Andrew Leon Dowdy Jr.; two sisters; and five brothers.
Mrs. Dowdy was of the Baptist faith. She had been a machine operator with Southern Yarn Dyers where she retired in 2002 after 26 years of employment. Mrs. Dowdy enjoyed spending time with her family and watching television.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey and Patricia Dowdy of White, Edward and Renea Dowdy of Cartersville, and Philip and Mary Dowdy of Emerson; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnie and Carol Thomas of Hoover, Alabama and Douglas and Cheryl Thomas of Warrior, Alabama; her sisters and brother-in-law, Louise Glover of Summiton, Alabama and Rosemary and Clyde Robinson of Pleasant Grove, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Monday and from 12 � 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
