Sarah Akers

Sarah Lou Akers, age 71, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Cartersville, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Baptist Hospital West Knoxville. She was born in West Virginia on May 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Joseph Albert King and Goldie Bell May King. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and enjoyed taking care of children and had a love for animals. Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Eula Thomas.



Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Stratton of Knoxville; her son, Tommy King, Jr. of Tampa, Flordia; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Louis McCoy of Blackriver, Michigan, Reva and Donny Melton of Middletown, Indiana, Kristy Thomas of Calhoun, Georgia and Rebecca and Morris Adkins of Knoxville, Tennessee; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Noah and Money King of Keyser, West Virginia, Robert and Pat King of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Joseph and Alice King of Lincoln Park, Michigan and Leslie and Pat King of Southgate, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Max Maybern officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.



The family will receive friends at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 � 9 p.m.
