Sarah Jo Gruber Pinson, age 88, of Cartersville, Georgia, sadly passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome, Georgia.
Sarah was born on October 9, 1935, in Early County, Georgia, to the late John Douglas Gruber and Ethel Iola Gruber. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Herman Gruber, and son-in-law, Thomas Smith.
Those left behind to remember Sarah are her adoring husband of 67 wonderful years, Carl Pinson; her loving children, Randy Pinson (Pamela Hall Taylor), Elaine Smith (Tom), and Carol Griner (David); her sister, Beverly McMullen (Tommy); her grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Caleb Griner (Allie), Jacob Griner (Anda), Will Smith, and Isaac Griner; as well as her great-grandson, J.D. Griner.
Sarah spent her life focused on two things: her love for The Lord and her love for her family. She was a dedicated member of Raccoon Creek Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for over 60 years. She also hosted a weekly Bible study in her home with a focus on women's ministry. She also worked for the City of Cartersville School System for over 30 years as a cafeteria manager. Sarah married the love of her life Carl on November 25, 1956, and raised a beautiful family with him. She was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking for friends and family, and it brought her joy to feed people. She especially enjoyed times when her whole family would get together to share a meal around her table. She was an avid reader and couldn't spend enough time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She was a pillar in her family and her community, and she will be sorely missed.
A funeral service for Sarah will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Raccoon Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Black and Rev. Wesley Morris officiating. An interment will follow the service at Raccoon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, for a visitation prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Griner, Jacob Griner, Isaac Griner, Will Smith, Chris Myers, Justin Lasley, Jeff Tumlin, and Steve McMullen.
