September 27, 1949 — September 10, 2008

Sarah Key Porter, 58, of Kingston passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born September 27, 1949 in Marietta, she was the daughter of James Earnest Key and the late Cellie Claudia Drummond Key. Sarah was also preceded in death by her sisters, Donna Phillips and Janice Key.



Sarah was a huge fan of British television and enjoyed listening to music by the Beach Boys and Elvis. She also enjoyed camping with their family. Sarah was a caregiver and nurturer of her family and friends. She definitely enjoyed mothering others. The Christmas holidays were special to Sarah. She collected Christmas decorations, but she also enjoyed giving a special Christmas ornament to each of her family members. Sarah also enjoyed collecting spoons. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.



Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Freddie Porter of Kingston; her sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Brenda Porter of Mableton and Kenneth and Jessy Porter of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Chris Filzen of Dallas, Brittany Porter of Mableton, and Dane Porter of Cartersville; her great-grandchildren, Kayla and Brianna Filzen; her father, James Key of Kingston; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Billy Hill of Ball Ground, Sheilia and John Dean of Alpharetta, Pam and Floyd Millsapp of Acworth, and Gail and Virgil Porter of Taylorsville; and her nieces and nephews, Cleve Hill, Seth Hill, Chad Millsapp, Ashley Harper, Brandon Millsapp, April Porter, Brooke Porter, Danielle Rawlins, James Rawlins, Trenton Porter, Louis Garcia, Brianna Garcia, and Austin Lovingood.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2008 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Gerral Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Millsapp, Brandon Millsapp, David Rigney, James Rawlins, Shaun Harper, and Terry Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be Cleve Hill, Seth Hill, and Allen Cunningham. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. Friday.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Thursday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
