It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherry Renay Vaughn, a beloved wife, mom, sister, grandmother, and friend. Renay was born on Tuesday, June 11, 1957, in Cartersville, Georgia, and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Cedartown, GA, surrounded by her loving family.


Renay was a cherished member of her community, known for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She had a passion for making crafts and found joy in every moment spent with her family. Her home was always filled with the warmth and beauty of sunflowers, her favorite flower. Renay was a devoted church goer who loved helping others and found great delight in listening to her grandsons, Damon Ray and Landyn Ray along with Levi and Josh Wells play and sing.


She is survived by her devoted spouse, Dennis Hartness, and her loving siblings, sisters Penny Flanagan and Sherry Hill, and brothers Billy Joe Tant Jr. (Rhonda), Terry Tant, and Bobby Leonard. Renay's legacy lives on through her grandsons, Damon Ray and Landyn Ray, and her daughter-in-love, Linda Ray. She will be dearly missed by her best friend Debra Wilson, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless others whose lives she touched.


Renay was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Tant Sr., her mother, Gladys Womack, her daughter Stephanie Ray, her son Scottie Ray, and her nephew Billy Joe Tant III.


A funeral service to celebrate Renay's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, with Pastors Henry White and Randy Wells officiating. Following the service, Renay will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.


Honoring Renay as pallbearers are Johnboy Flanagan, Justin Hill, Kyle Flanagan, Joe Tant, Leon Bowling, Michael Tant, Houston Tant, Pearson Cunningham, and Kenneth Tant.


Arrangements have been entrusted to Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Renay's life was a testament to love, faith, and family, and she will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of sunflowers and the love of those she cherished.
