Shirley Ann �Opal� Wilkins, 73, of Cartersville and formerly of Roswell passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010. Born September 6, 1937 in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Johnson, Sr. and the late Lelia Eugene Stephens Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Manson B. Wilkins; her sisters, Elizabeth Abel, Norma Jean Johnson, and Christine Johnson; and her brothers, Henry Grady Johnson, Jr. and Raymond Lee Johnson.
Opal lived a simple life and loved her grandchildren. She also loved to cook, and she was a member of Willeo Baptist Church in Roswell.
Survivors include her daughter Beth Cannon of Cartersville; her granddaughters, Kayla Nicole Cannon and Courtney Danielle Cannon; her sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jadar Cagle of Dahlonega and Mildred Lowe of Crossville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Jimmy Day and Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Cannon, Josh Murphy, Jeff Davis, Chris Miller, and Hunter Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Cagle, Steve Cannon, Ed Miller, and Larry Davis. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
