Sidney Gunnels

Mr. Sidney Allen Gunnels, 51, of Kingston passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence.

Born on February 4, 1972, in Sonora, Texas he was the son of Gerald Gunnels and Susan Reed Gunnels. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ancel and Oleta Reed, and William and Ona Gunnels.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Chantel Dixon Gunnels; his children, Brandon Dixon (Rachel Dixon), Brittany Gagne, Ali Hoad (Jarod Vann), Cody Thomson, Dalton Gunnels (Chastity Sheppard), Charitee Gunnels (Matthew Gunnels), and Sara Gunnels (Whitney Wilson); his animal children, Buddy, Abe, and Skid; his grandchildren, Bella, Lilly, Sydney, Lance, Emmy, Ava, Grayce, Haizlee, Daizy, and Rylee who is on the way; his siblings, Travis Gunnels (Michelle Gunnels), Joey Gunnels (Annette Gunnels), and Melanie Burch; and his parents in-law, Lynn and Sherry Stell.

People say that angels walk this earth but you are never truly sure until you met Sidney. A man born to lead, love, and teach. Sid wore a cowboy hat and a smile that made you feel a warmth from your head to your toes. He was the epitome of salt of the earth.

Sidney's love for his wife, his kids, his grandbabies, friends, and church was bigger than the whole sky and shined bright in all he did. His holistic nature and teachings spread knowledge to all those that sought a helping hand.

Our Cowboy, our Shaman, our Prayer Warrior, our Cobbler Maker, our Hiker, our Book of Knowledge, and our Biggest Fan, you will forever be missed. You will be forever loved and forever remembered. We will look to you for guidance and strength. As you watch over us, we will smile, knowing that we are never alone. We have never been loved more and we have never been closer to heaven. We love you.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Burnt Hickory Church of Christ with Jordan Tatum officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. A private interment will follow.
