Solen Newman

Mr. Solen Ranzey Newman, 95, of Dallas went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Vista Care Hospice in Atlanta. Born in Culbertson, North Carolina May 22, 1915, Mr. Newman was the son of the late Ranzey Newman and the late Bessie Bell Newman. He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and three brothers.



Mr. Newman was a member of Canton Road Church of God and was a 32nd Degree Mason in Dalton. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from C. W. Matthews where he was a shop welding foreman.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettie Newman of Dallas; his children, Geraldine Duke, Patricia and Mickey Poe, Amelia Gail Newman, Kimberly Newman and David Lanning; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Albert and Richard Newman.



Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Jimmy Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.



The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m. Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Ga.



In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scottish Rites Children Hospital.
