Mrs. Stella Mae Smith Brewer, age 85, of 3 Rosalyn Drive, formerly of 8 Lynn Haven Drive, Rome, GA, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009.
Mrs. Brewer was born McMinn County, TN on April 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Marshall Smith and Mattie Bell Smith. Mrs. Brewer was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She retired from Trend Mills of Rome. Mrs. Brewer was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Also, she enjoyed traveling and going to the mountains. In addition to her parents Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Brewer; two brothers, Van Smith and Lake Smith; a grandson, Timothy Brett Brewer; and a granddaughter, Kristi Renee Shealy.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bryan Shealy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny R. and Joy Brewer, Bobby L. and Pat Brewer, and Ronnie D. Brewer; six grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Christi Shealy of Rome, Melissa and Jay Shell of Rome, Rebecca Arendt of Rome, Stephanie and Tracy Stewart of Rome, Jonathan Brewer of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Tina and John Merritt of Snellville, GA; nine great-grandchildren, Layla Shealy, Madalyn Shell, Jordan Brewer, Macy Rittenhouse, Morgan Stewart, Christian Arendt, Hannah Arendt, Seth Arendt, and Josh Brewer; and a great-great-granddaughter, Addison Rittenhouse. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held January 30, 2009, Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Karch officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel on Friday by 1:30 P.M.: Chris Shealy, Jonathan Brewer, Jay Shell, Tracy Stewart, Morgan Stewart, Josh Brewer, and John Merritt.
