Stephen Mathews

Stephen Conway Mathews, 58, of Marietta died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at his residence. Born in Atlanta, Ga., March 22, 1952, he was the son of Betty Gilstrap Mathews and the late Alton Riley Mathews. Stephen was self-employed as a mechanic.



He enjoyed NASCAR, road racing, playing drums and accordian, diving and football. Preceding him in death are his father, Alton Mathews; his brother, Alton Mathews, Jr.; his grandmother, Winnie White Pratt; his aunt, Helen L. Kruger; his uncles, Robert E. Kruger, Wallace A. Gilstrap and Wilton D. Gilstrap; and his cousin, Pamela J. Kruger Young.



Survivors include his mother, Betty G. Mathews of White; his aunt, Margie Gilstrap of Cartersville; his cousins, Michael Kruger, Sharon Kruger Wells, Lee Gilstrap, Danny Gilstrap, Elizabeth Gilstrap and several nieces and nephews.



Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at White Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the graveside at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
