Mrs. Sue C. McCarley, age 88, of Rome, GA died Friday, March 19, 2010 in a Rome healthcare facility.
Mrs. McCarley was born in Bartow County, GA on September 29, 1921 to the late William D. Collins and Elizabeth Mashburn Collins. She was a life time member of the Snow Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. McCarley retired in 1981 from Trend Mills.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking for her family and loved to sing. In addition to her parents Mrs. McCarley was preceded in death by her husband, Herman T. McCarley on July 1, 2001; brothers, Clovis Collins, Clyde Collins and Paul Collins; sisters, Ruth Carr, Edith Pelfrey, Ruby Wood and Mary Adcock.
Survivors include her sons, Gary McCarley and his wife Kay of Shannon, GA, Jerry McCarley and his fianc�e D.J. Morris and Byron MCarley of Rome; daughter, Carole King and her husband, Jerry of Rome, GA; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hinkley officiating. Interment will follow in Morning View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
The following gentlement have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 P.M. on Monday: Eric McCarley, Mitchell King, Steve King, James King, Matthew King, Bryon McCarley, Jr. and Derrick Owens. Honorary pallbearers are Blake McCarley and Wesley Padgett.
