Sylvia Faye Myers, 73, of Taylorsville died Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born June 28, 1937 in Cleveland, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late William Alexander �Bill� Grissom Sr. and the late Mary Arbena Martin Grissom. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Stacey Myers, and her brother, William Alexander �Willie� Grissom, Jr.
Sylvia was employed as a bus driver with the Cobb County School System until her retirement and was a member of Euharlee Baptist Church. Sylvia was known as being a simple, friendly, and down to earth person. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and fishing.
Survivors include her son, Edward Clarence Myers, Jr.; her daughters, Julie Renee McCullough and Joyce Marie Myers; her brother, John Martin �Buddy� Grissom; her sister, Barbara Kay Ylvisaker; her grandchildren and their spouses, Travis and Jessica Myers, Jessica and Colby Watson, John Myers, Duncan McCullough, Dewayne Moore, and Sylvia Milligan; and her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Myers and Molly-Ann Myers.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 in the Euharlee Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Dempsey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 � 5 p.m. on Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
