Ted Ammons

Mr. Ted Henry Ammons, Sr., age 76, of 27 John Ross Drive, Rome, GA, died Friday, March 16, 2007, in a local medical center.
Mr. Ammons was born in Gordon County, GA, on August 8, 1930, the son of the late Grady and Eva Payne Ammons. He had lived most of his life in Rome and Floyd County and prior to retirement in 1995, he was associated with Inland Container for a number of years. Mr. Ammons was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church where he faithfully worked with the Parking Lot Committee. He also was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ammons was preceded in death y his wife, Minnie Freeman Ammons, on December 14, 1998. A brother, Dewey Ammons, and two sisters, Betty Ammons and Jessie Ammons, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Ammons is survived by two sons, Ted H. Ammons, Jr., of Goshen, KY, and Gary Ammons of Douglasville, GA; four grandchildren, Matthew Ammons, Derek Ammons, Lauren Ammons and Leah Ammons; one great-grandchild, Dylan Ammons.
Funeral services for Mr. Ammons will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Oates officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends this (Saturday) evening from 7 until 9 p.m. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.
Members of the Parking Lot Committee from West Rome Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday by 1:30 p.m. and include Jeff Ward, Brent Poplin, Henry Matthews, Russell Reid, Tim Raley and James Chamness.
