Terry Bailey

Mr. Terry Bailey, age 72, of 103 Windwood Way, Garden Lakes Community, passed away Sunday morning, March 9, 2008 in a Rome Hospital.

Mr. Bailey was born in Floyd County on February 22, 1936, son of the late Guy Martin Bailey and Bessie Carter Bailey. He spent most of his life in the Rome and Floyd County area where he was a graduate of Rome High School and was a member of the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church. Terry worked with his parents who owned and operated the Rome Florist for twenty five years and then moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, where he was a resident for seventeen years and was employed with Lockheed-Martin doing functional test repairs on small tools. He worked with the Special Police and was an instructor for three years teaching firearms. Mr. Bailey was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Paulette Bailey, 1960; a grandchild, Jonathan Payton, 1986.

Survivors include his wife, the former Doris Moore, to whom he was married March 16, 1955; one son, Marty Bailey of Rome; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Kevin Rouse of Acworth, GA.; three grandchildren, Joshua Payton, Nicholas Rouse, and Mikaelia Rouse; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Ray Moore (Deloris), and David Carl Moore (Judy); one sister-in-law, Mary Martin (Marvin); several cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Jennings Heritage Chapel with Reverend Bob Anderson, Mr. Paul Rampley, and Reverend Jon Sullivan who will have charge of graveside rites. Interment will be at the East View Cemtery.

Mr. Bailey will remain at Jennings Heritage Chapel where the family will receive friends Monday, March 10, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and at other hours the family may be contacted at the residence, 103 Windwood Way.

Active pallbearers include, Dale Carter, Randy Smith, Chuck Bailey, Mike Reynolds, Eddie Aldridge, and Dave Rickman. Honorary pallbearers include the (Clique) Group and their spouses, along with Lee and Ruth Corlew, and Rick and Delene Buffington. Pallbearers should meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 1:30 P.M.
