Terry Waits, 53, of White passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born April 11, 1957 he was the son of Shirley Lockaby Robinson of Rydal. He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Waits.
Terry attended and graduated from both Rhinehardt University in Waleska, and Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with degrees in criminal justice. He was employed as a case expediter for the Department of Juvenile Justice for the state of Georgia and was a member of the Georgia Juvenile Services Association. He retired after thirty years of service and was respected for his professionalism as well as his compassion toward children. He was a member of the Pine Log United Methodist Church where he enjoyed helping in the Men�s Club BBQ, as well as helping with Boy Scout Troop 100 for many years. Terry loved his family, and especially enjoyed the family men�s fishing trips to Steinhatchee, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Poole Waits; his sons, Jacob Lamar Waits, and Zachary Hoke Poole Waits; his mother, Shirley Robinson of Rydal; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Anne and Scott Crider of Ranger; his brother, Richard Waits of Rydal; his mother-in-law, Lorene Poole; his brother-in-law, David Poole; his uncles and aunt, Raymond and Elizabeth Lockaby of Rydal, and Jack Lockaby of Steinhatchee, Fl.; his niece, Haley Crider; and his nephews, Cord Crider, and Michael Poole.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Bruce Bunten officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Rydal.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Waits, Zachary Waits, Richard Fox, John Adair, Cord Crider, and Adam Goad. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. on Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ER, ICU and second floor nursing staff of Cartersville Medical Center; and to Dr. Mehta, Dr. Sayad, and Dr. Tayare.
