Mrs. Thelma Louise Thacker, age 85, of 12 Locust Street, Rome, GA, died Monday, July 26, 2004 in a local nursing facility.Mrs. Thacker was born in Bartow County, September 10, 1918, daughter of the late Dewey and Gertrude Smith Martin but had spent the greater part of her life here. She had resided in the Riverside Community for over 60 years. She was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church, and a member of the Etowah Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star. Prior to her retirement she was associated with Celanese Corporation and was later associated with Rome Spun for over 5 years.She was preceded in death by her former husband, Morris Clarence Thacker, December 16, 2003; and was preceded in death by a son, James Morris Thacker, by two grandchildren, Jimmy Thacker and Kristie Shiflett, sisters, Geneva Kelley and Dixie Wheeler and a brother, Rudy Martin. She was a loving mother and grand mother.Survivors include; two daughters and son in law, Jewell Dean Thacker, Patsy and Robert Shiflett, all of Rome, GA, two sons and daughters in law, Charles and Jone Thacker of St. Augustine, FL, Robert (Bob) and Linda Thacker of Rome, GA, one sister Inez Highfield of Rome, five brothers; Herman, Leon, Billy, Boyd and Michael Martin all of Cartersville, GA, grandchildren; Donna and Phil Goss, Marsha Walden, Stacy Bartholomew, Karen Boone, Wayne, Doug, and John Thacker., 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Louise Thacker will be held 2 PM,Wednesday July 28, 2004, in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Adams and Rev. Max Carver officiating.
