Thomas Shell, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Wayland Shell, Sr. age 78, of Rome, GA, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, in a local hospital.



Mr. Shell was born in Senoyia, GA on February 2, 1931, the son of the late Charles L. Shell and Naomie McClarty Shell. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Inland Container after thirty-five years of service. In addition to his parents Mr. Shell was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.



Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Wayland Shell, Jr. and his wife, Connie of Rockland, ME, James Gregory Shell and his wife, Susan of Rome, GA, and Michael V. Shell of Armuchee, GA; and six grandchildren, Nicole and John PeCari, Travis Shell, Hogan Shell, Jessika Shell, Courtney Shell, and Ashley Shell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Chaplain Tom Centola and Rev. Brad Prater officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.



The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.
