Thomas Billings, Sr.

Mr. Thomas L. Billings Sr., age 77, of Rome, GA died, Thursday, October 8, 2009.



Mr. Billings was born in Decatur, AL on May 26, 1932, the son of the late Hassie Lee Billings and Lela E. Harrold. He was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. Mr. Billings served in the United States Navy and retired from Georgia Kraft. Mr. Billings was an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Doris Avery Billings who died May 22, 2002; his brother, William F. Billings; and two sisters, Agnes Billings and Martha Billings.



Survivors include his two sons, Steve Billings and his wife, LaWana and Thomas Billings, Jr. and his wife, Terri all of Rome, GA; two sisters, Jewell Tripp of Tallahassee, FL and Mary N. Entrabartolo of Rome, GA; and granddaughters, Michele and Morgan Billings. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life for Mr. Billings will be held Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Drummond officiating. Mr. Billings will lie-in-state from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion conducting military graveside rites.



The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.
