Thomas Whitfield, Jr.

July 11, 1945 — February 28, 2010

Thomas F. �Pete� Whitfield, Jr., 64, of Acworth passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Kennestone Welstar Hospital in Marietta. Born July 11, 1945 in Carnesville, he was the son of the late Rev. Thomas Freeman Whitfield, Sr. and the late Rosetta Hamby Whitfield.



Pete was a retired district manager with the Conoco Oil Company. He attended The Church at Liberty Square where he was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and The Mighty Warriors adult group.



Pete lived his life fully trusting in his Savior Jesus Christ. He lived out his faith as a cheerful giver who regularly gave above and beyond his tithe to help others who were in need. Pete believed that it is impossible to out give God.



After his salvation, the joy of Pete�s life was his grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally and to whom he gave unconditionally. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.



Survivors include his wife whom he married on April 21, 1984, Peggy Whitfield; his daughters, Lynn Ringwalt of Ellijay, Joyce Wester of Villa, North Carolina, and Roxane Stancil of Clendon, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Scott Edwards, Jr., Cameron Taylor, Amanda Ringwalt, Logan Stancil, Christopher Ringwalt, and Haley Stancil; his great-grandchildren, Scott Edwards, III and Karma Marie Edwards; his sisters, Lois Duggan of North Augusta, South Carolina and Anne Vaughan of Elberton, Georgia; his brother, Rev. David Whitfield of Summerville, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his Chihuahua, his little red dog, Red.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Joe Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow in Providence Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
