Tommie Bryant Nix, 94, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010 at
Maple Ridge Health Care Center. Born October 30, 1916 in Newton County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Bryant and the late Maude King Bryant. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Nix; her granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Cowart; her son, Kenneth Nix; her daughter, Shirley Perry; two sons-in-law, Ray Cowart, and Ray Dussault; five sisters, Esalle Beck, Estelle Chastain, Mattie Tearce, Inez Reese, Caron Kennedy, and two brothers, James Bryant, and Bud Bryant.
Mrs. Nix was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and always had a close relationship with her brothers and sisters. She was known for her positive outlook on life, her encouragement, her willingness to help others, and her love for her family and friends. She will always be missed, always loved, and always remembered. Mrs. Nix was a charter member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church of Cartersville for the past fifty-eight years, and was employed with the Union Carbide Corporation until the time of her retirement.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Jean Cowart, and Ann Dussault; her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Brenda Nix, and Ronnie and JoAnn Nix all of Catersville, and Peggy Nix of White; her eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Burgess and the Rev. Joe McKaig officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nicky Cowart, Scott Cowart, Brian Nix, Robert Nix, Anthony Nix, Travis Nix, Kevin Nix, Keith Nix, Russell Nix, David Ezell and Michael Ezell. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. on Sunday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
