Master Sergeant Trammell H. �Willie� Williams (USAF � Retired), 65, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his residence after a brief illness. Born March 17, 1945 in Dalton, he was the son of the late Trammell �Tiny� C. Williams and the late Helen Suggs Williams. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, H.H. and Zelma Williams; his uncle, Travis Williams, his aunt, Mary Gates; and his father-in-law, Carl Serritt.
Trammell was a 1963 graduate of Cass High School. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served for twenty years until his retirement in 1985 at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. While serving his country as a soldier, Trammell also worked and volunteered as a baseball and softball umpire for other military service members. After his retirement, he and his wife, Deborah, moved back to Cartersville where he became a school bus driver for the Bartow County School System until his illness in February 2010.
Survivors include his wife whom he married in 1967, Deborah Fuller Williams; his daughter Tamra and her husband, 1Sgt. Patrick Shaughnessy of Fort Campbell Army Post, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Blake Holmlund and future granddaughter-in-law, Jordan Supan, Alexander Shaughnessy, Brandon Shaughnessy, and Gage Holmlund; his sister and brother-in-law, Vanessa Jackson and Billy Cornwell of Cartersville; his brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Janie Williams of Panama City Beach, Florida; his mother-in-law, Gerrie Serritt; his brother-in-law, Eddie Fuller and his wife, Yvonne; his sisters-in-law, Joann Fuller, Cindy Boggs and her husband, Jerry, and Jenny Fuller; his chosen brother and sister, Stan and Glenda Cope; his chosen brother, Tyrone Harris; six nieces, Georgia, Heather, Misty and Jason, Miranda and Nathan, Gina and Dave, and Mellisa and Graham; four nephews, Shane and Kim, Phillip, Jesse, and Michael; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special cousin, Starling Bishop.
A celebration of Trammell�s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Robert Carson officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the V.F.W., American Legion, any law enforcement support group, or to Transitions Hospice.
