Trannie Abernathy Davis, 96, of Cartersville, GA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Mrs. Davis was born on December 7, 1929, near Adairsville, GA in the Stoner Chapel area. Daughter of the Late David and Lillian Hight Abernathy. She was of the Baptist Faith and was in the building business with her husband John W. Davis, Sr. while living in Acworth for 50 years. She was a member of The Eastern Star, Peach State Depression Glass Club, and the Red Hat Society. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family, who she loved dearly. She loved traveling, going on cruises, fishing and cooking for her family whenever she was able.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her dear husband of 53 years; and her brother-in-law, James Buster Parker. Survivors include 2 sons, John W. Davis, Jr. (Brenda), and David Michael Davis; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Pelfrey (Cory), John W. Davis III (Hollie), Courtney Hann (Nick), and Casey Davis (Ashley); 8 great grandchildren, Kylie & Khloe Hann, Rylan & Piper Davis, Junior & Caitlyn Pelfrey, Ford & Josie Davis; sister, Shirley Parker, of Acworth; nephews, Tony Parker (Beverly), and James Parker (Bridget), and lots of dear cousins. Many special friends of the Red Hat Society and friends on the street where she was from. She loved them all.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Casey Davis and Reverend David Summey. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on August 6, 2026, at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Nick Hann, Cory Pelfrey, John W. Davis III, Rylan Davis, Tony Parker, and James Parker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Abernathy, Steve Steele, and R.L. Boswell.
