Troy Leachman, 74, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at his residence. Born February 22, 1935 in Bartow County, he was the son of the late John Robert Leachman, Sr. and the late Hattie Bea Chandler Leachman. He was also preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.
Troy was retired from the United States Air Force and served his country in Korea and Viet Nam. After his retirement he owned and operated The Diesel Doctor and Leachman Trucking. Troy was also a member of the American Legion Carl Boyd Post 42 and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bernice Leachman; his daughter, Sherry Barton of Rome; his son, T.E. Leachman, Jr. of Cartersville; his sisters, Mary Jo Hollis of Marietta, Dorothy Reynolds of Pensacola, and Betty Wigley of Indiana; his brother, Paul Leachman of Hinesville; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday July 2, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Lamar Guyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachman Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Carl Boyd Post #42.
Serving as pallbearers will be Glen Barnette, Johnny Leachman, Fowler Leachman, Larry Henderson, Sergie Zagreba, and Pete Leachman. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
