July 13, 1910 — April 16, 2004

Troy Lincoln Mobley, age 93, formerly of Old Summerville Road, Rome, GA, died after a short illness in Gulfbreeze, Florida Hospital Friday, April 16, 2004. Prior to moving to Navarre, Florida, Mr. Mobley had been a resident of Rome since 1950. he was born in Pierce County, Blackshear, Georgia, on July 13, 1910. Mr. Mobley was a barber at Knox's Barber Shop in Blackshear, GA, for a number of years before moving to Rome. He owned and operated Troy's Barber Shop in Rome prior to his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1952 and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Mobley was an avid gardener, and took pride in his beautiful flowers and vegetable garden.He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Annie Pearl Roundtree, December 16, 2000, and his parents Marion Albert Mobley and Rachel Lee of Patterson, GA, and three brothers and two sisters.Survivors include two sisters, Josephine Walters of Powder Springs, GA and Lila Mae Strickland of Ft. McCoy, FL , three daughters, Ivis (Bill) Locke, of Navarre, Florida, Audrey (Jim) Ward of Navarre, Florida, Glenda (Don) Keil of Cedar Bluff, Alabama. Eight Grandchildren, Abigail (Mack) Gordon, Macon, GA, Jeneane Barber, Macon GA., Katy (Jimmy) Adams, Milledgeville, GA., Angela Hart, Cumming, GA, Drake Ward, Navarre, Florida, Tommy (Beverly) Ward, Rome, GA, Kirby (Carolyn) Rowland, Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Kent Chipman, Macon, GA. He also has 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Mobley will be held Tuesday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m., in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home, Rome, GA. with Dr. Steve Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rome, GA.The family will receive friends at Jennings Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, 1148 North Broad Street, Rome, GA, Monday evening, April 19, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, Florida 32578.The Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for the funeral of Troy Lincoln Mobley.
