Velma Hyde

Mrs. Velma Jean Hyde, 61, of Cartersville passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at her residence.
Born in Cartersville on March 8, 1952 she was the daughter of the late Robert Elmer Battles and the late Ellen Beatrice Gray Battles. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Hyde. Velma was a member of Circle L Ministries and an avid country music and NASCAR fan. She spent thirty three years working for the Bartow County School System. Velma loved and touched many children though her years in education.
Survivors include her husband of forty-six years, Charles Hyde; her son, Randy Hyde; her grandson, Zach Hyde; her sisters, Janie Battles Rodgers and Bobbie Battles Lewis; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Abernathy, Reverend Tony Lyle and Mr. Parnick Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Rydal. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Matthews, C.J. Hardin, Dewayne Hardin, T.J. Lyle, Jeff Rodgers and Jeff Wilbur. These gentlemen are asked to be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
