On Friday, December 18, 2009 our Heavenly Father opened his gates and laid our devoted family member and friend, Vergie Ovell Morris, 85, to rest.
Born September 15, 1924 in Plainville, Georgia, she was the middle child of James S. Conway and Tisha Franklyn Chastain Conway. Vergie grew up in Plainville and later moved to Rome, Georgia where she married and raised her children before finally residing until her death in Cartersville. Her feistiness, determination, and strength will remain fondly in our memories forever.
Vergie is preceded in death by her parents, James S. and Tisha Conway; her brother, J.W. Conway; her son, Johnny L. Brooks; and her great-grandson, Anthony Ely.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Jackie and J.C. Atchley, Billy J. Brooks, Jr. and Pat, Frankie and Steve Strother, and Janice Correll; her sister, Geneva Couch; seventeen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Rayford Davenport officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens and Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
