Vernon Eugene Thacker, 78, of Cartersville Georgia, passed away on December 22, 2022 at his home.
Born on September 30, 1944 he is the son of the late Jesse Thacker and Maggie Abernathy Thacker. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Jefferson, Doris Pope, Edna Hite, and Judy Ginn.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Thacker; daughters, Paula Cox (Terry Duvall), Denise Story (Chris), and Lisa Thacker; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Mozel Pope; and brothers, Jerry Thacker and Jesse Lee Thacker.
Vernon was a simple man with a sweet soul and a good heart. He was a skilled brick mason for most of his life. He loved to play guitar and listen to music. He enjoyed going for rides in the country and he also was very good at gardening.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Tony Lile officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the funeral home.
