Mr. Vestal L. Seamon, age 74, of 157 Haywood Valley Road, Armuchee, GA, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005.Mr. Seamon was born in Mocksville, NC, on September 12, 1931, the son of the late Lewis Monroe Seamon and Ida Adams Seamon. He had lived the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Prior to retirement in 1993, he was associated with Pet Bakeries for over 24 years. Mr. Seamon was a veteran of the 101st Airborne of the United States Army and a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post Five of the American Legion. He loved his children and grandchildren and "never turned his back on anyone in need". Mr. Seamon enjoyed fishing, collecting knives, guns and coins, and swinging in his front yard. He will be remembered as a man of great kindness. Mr. Seamon was married on July 18, 1953, to Mrs. Mildred Mullen Seamon and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2001. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Jack Seamon, and two sisters, Ruby Boger and Estelle Durham.Mr. Seamon is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Roger Waddell of Armuchee; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard (Rick) and Penny Seamon of Toccoa, GA, Ralph Len Seamon of Armuchee and Ron Seamon of Virginia; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Richard Crouse, Taylor and Colton Seamon, Michelle (Shelly) Seamon and Keeley Seamon; one sister, Nellie Murray of Winston-Salem, NC. Two former daughters-in-law, Robin Miller and Mirian Seamon, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mr. Seamon will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Branton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Seamon will be carried to the church on Friday to lie in-state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.Mr. Seamon will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
