Viola Spinks

Mrs. Viola Gertrude Spinks, 84, of Cartersville passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Douglasville, Sept. 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Vance and the late Ruby Victoria Lee Vance. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nathan James (N.J.) Spinks; her son, Donald Spinks; her brothers, Clarence and Chapel Vance; and her sister, Barbara Jean Hadden.
She was a member of Glade Road Baptist Church and was a housewife. She enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Suzanne Spinks of Acworth and Eugene and Julie Spinks of Adairsville; her daughter, Rachel Ray of Huntsville, NC; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Lurene and Wayne Daniell; and her brother, Thomas Jefferson Vance, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Interment will follow in Haney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Marietta.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.
