Mrs. Virginia Akins, 82, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. A native of Bartow County, born June 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Everett Jones and the late Martha Elizabeth Jones. She retired from the Cartersville Undergarment with twenty years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Thomas �Tom� Akins; her children, Sheila Adams, Marilyn Lewis Cason, Tommy Akins, J.P. Akins and Alinda Akins Kinskey; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Abernathy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m., Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Amedisys Hospice, 1217 Joe Frank Harris Parkway SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
