Mrs. Virginia "Gin" Twilley Powell, 83, of White, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born July 30, 1929 in Dallas, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Twilley and the late Delia Thomason Twilley. Mrs. Powell was a member of Touch of Grace Church and had worked for many years as a hairdresser. She loved to sew, read, and do crossword puzzles, and was very involved in her church. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by brothers, Lance Twilley, Bill Twilley, and Randall Twilley; and sisters, Ann McAdams, Lester Thomason, Alma Brown, and Jean Brown.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Powell and Eric Powell and his wife Susan, all of White; grandchildren, Curtis Powell and his wife Tiffany, Misty Temples and her husband Dale, and Josh Powell; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Twilley; sister, Delia Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with The Reverend Terry Hale and Bishop David Huskins officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in White Methodist Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Brown, Billy Brown, Dale Hibbard, Mark Hibbard, Casey Twilley, and Johnson Brown. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Philip Brown.
