Mr. Virlus "Bill" Blalock, 80, of Cartersville, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Born February 28, 1935 in Cleveland, TN, he was a son of the late Johnny Herschel Blalock and the late Alma Traylor Blalock. Mr. Blalock was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, and a graduate of Georgia Tech. He was a member of Adairsville Church of God, where he served as a bass player. He also played bass at Christian Fellowship Church, Faith United Methodist Church, and New Covenant Church of God in Acworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Hudgens; brother, Ed; and sisters, Edna and Irene.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jeanelle Blalock; daughters, Renae Hudgens and her husband Mitch of Sugar Valley, GA, and Sherrie Dobbs and her husband Wayne of Calhoun; sisters, Marie, Jayne, Linda, and Brenda; brothers, Paul, Charles, and Daniel; grandchildren, Hannah Holland, Riley Hall, and Travis Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Adairsville Church of God with Pastor Ken Coomer officiating, interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery, on Highway 53 in Gordon County. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Mr. Blalock while lie in state at the church, 1 hour prior to the service.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Bill's fellow musicians from Adairsville Church of God.
