Vivian Abernathy

Vivian "Vickie" Abernathy, age 63, of Cartersville, died peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018. She was a native of Bartow County, born on June 19, 1955, the daughter of Tommy Posey and Vivian Earwood Crymes.
Mrs. Abernathy was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she served as the church clerk. She was married to her loving husband, Barry Abernathy for 49 years. Some of her favorite things to do were camping at Lake Weiss, watching the beautiful sunsets and reading. She loved to wait on her husband and take care of her family. Preceding her in death are her son, Shane Abernathy; step-fathers, Jerry Pearson and Jimmy Crymes; and brother-in-law, J. T. Shepherd.
Survivors include her husband, Barry; her mother, Vivian Crymes; her father, Tommy L. Posey; sons, Lamar and wife, Christy and Toby and wife Susan; grandchildren, Dustin Abernathy, Levi Matthews, Ansley Dupree and husband, Andrew, Allison Abernathy, Amy Abernathy, Dawson, Dylan, Dakota and Abby Abernathy; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Abernathy, Anna Grace and Molly Dupree; siblings, Ronnie Posey, Debra Moon, Jill Davis and James Crymes, Jr.; brother-in-law, Kenny Abernathy and wife, Brenda; sister-in-law, Debbie Shepherd; mother-in-law, Clara Abernathy; and best friend, Debbie Abernathy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend Rob Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the funeral home from 5 – 8 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Posey, James Crymes, Eric Shepherd, Kenny Abernathy, Dustin Abernathy, Dawson Abernathy, Dakota Abernathy and Dylan Abernathy. Johnny Ray, Levi Matthews and Terry Mundy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
