Vongie Lee Chapman, 89, of Cartersville Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023.
She was born on May 5, 1934, in Ellijay Georgia to the late Effie Wright. Vongie is also preceded in death by her son, Ricky Payne; and her two brothers, Arnold Wright (Shirley) and Jimmy Wright (Cathy).
Survivors include her two children, Marsha Baker and Bobby Lee Payne; grandchildren, Christopher Baker (Brooke), Kaylan Vrana (Adam), Bobby Lake Payne, and Connie Chatman; great-grandchildren, Conner Chatman, Courtney Chatman (Joseph Head), Zoe Herrin (Tristan) and Rhodes Baker; great-great-grandson, Henry Head.
Vongie loved spending time with her grandkids and friends. She was a longtime employee and retired from Shaw Industries. Vongie had the biggest admiration for flowers, hummingbirds, and red birds. She loved looking out the window and watching them eat and admiring their beauty.
The family will be having a graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Chris Maybern officiating.
