Walmer Atkinson

September 29, 1939 — December 25, 2010

Walmer Jean Atkinson went home to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on his birthday Saturday, December 25, 2010. Upon her arrival in heaven she was greeted by her beloved husband, Billy Joe Atkinson; and her parents, William Eley and Kanzady Robinson Eley; also in attendance were her sisters, Mildred Gossett, Betty Cadle; and her brothers, Kay Eley, Frank Eley, and Houston Eley.

Jean was born in Bartow County on September 29, 1939 and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after thirty-three years of employment. It was the only job she ever held.

She is survived by her sisters-in law, Faye Pate, and Marie Hendrix; and many nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Diana Taylor; and one much loved great-niece, Ginger Hale. Also surviving are her wonderful friends, Mary and Delano Cantrell; her Sunday school class at Oakland Heights Baptist Church; and her Red Hat Sisters around the world.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Sunset Memory Gardens with the Rev. Joe Nix officiating.
