Walter �Papa Don� James, 70 of Cartersville passed away Wednesday March 4, 2009 at Cartersville Medical Center after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents.



Don was born January 29, 1939, in Denver Colorado, son of the late Viola and Louis James. Don was a devout Christian, was very involved in the Atlanta Christian Cursillo Movement. He was a giant in the Alcoholcis Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Alanon communities in Cartersville. He and his wife Linda established the first Narcotics Anonymous meetings in Cartersville 17 years ago, when they relocated from California. He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 till 1959.



Survivors include his wife Linda James, his children, Tim James and wife Kay, Susan Wagnon and her husband Johnnie, Mark Daniel James, Tammie Wadley, Kurina Hill and her husband Mark, Scott Lasky, Jason Wadley and Alexander Wadley, 10 grandchildren, Timmy, Patrick, Amy, Jennifer, Emma, Michael, Rylie, Hillary, Seth and Ryan, and 2 great grandchildren, Jayden and Brianna.



A memorial celebrating Don�s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7th at the Church of Liberty Square with Rev. Michael Teasley officiating.



In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Bartow Unit
