Wanda Hicks

Wanda H. Hicks, 91, of Cartersville, Ga., formally of Stone Mountain, Ga. passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Born on February 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Mary Waggoner Hancock and the late Guilford Ottovon Hancock, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, H. Arnold Hicks; brothers, Guilford Ottovon (Von) Hancock, Jr. and Jere A. Hancock; and son-in-law, George L. Fricks.
Wanda graduated with BS in Home Economics from University of Georgia in 1954. She was a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron (National Honorary Society for Professional Home Economics) and Phi Tau Chi National Honor Society through Beta Alpha Chapter of UGA. She was employed by the Georgia Agricultural Extension Service as a Home Demonstration Agent in Sandersville, GA after graduation.
Wanda retired from the Dekalb County School System while living in Stone Mountain. She and her husband moved to Cartersville in 2002, and she was a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Bill (Karen) Hicks; daughter, Catherine H. Fricks; grandchildren, Marissa (Blake) Hannah, Caitlin (Slade) Phillips, Melanie Hicks, and Paige (Johnny) Frantz; great grandchildren, Rhett Phillips, Jaxon Phillips, and Bayliss Hannah; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda will be buried in Wrightsville, Ga. in the West View Cemetery on Monday, September 23
