Robert "Wayne" Maulden passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cartersville, Georgia on Thursday December 30, 2021. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Brown Maulden. He is also preceded by his parents James and Estelle Reed Maulden, his siblings Rilda Kilby, Willie Wigington, Johnny Maulden, Frances Lipscomb, Clarence Maulden, Annie Ruth Singley and Hazel Maulden.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Cheryl (Joel) Guyton, Daryl (Elizabeth) Maulden, and Kelli (Phil) Bryson; his grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Guyton, Taylor and Samantha Bryson, Katie Guyton, Conner and Zoe Bryson, and Michael and Eliana Nieves; his great-grandchildren, Lydia Bryson, Renleigh Guyton, and Anthony and Jaiden Nieves; his brothers, Max Mauldin and Charles "Tiny" Maulden; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wayne was born on May 2, 1934. He served in the Air Force as a member of the Air Police and was a Mason. He was a Brick Mason by trade with Maulden and Boyd Contractors for over 50 years. He was an avid Nascar fan and loved going to the races with his son. He loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs play, especially when his granddaughter was on the sidelines cheering them on. The thing he loved most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his best times were cooking out and laughing with his kids and grandkids. He loved going to Bingo on Saturday nights and Cody J's on Thursdays to have lunch with his brothers. He never met a stranger and he loved to talk. He loved telling stories about his old Air Force days, he was a good storyteller. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Parnick Jennings Funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 5th at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Buford Lipscomb officiating. Entombment will follow at Providence Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Justin Guyton, Taylor Bryson and Conner Bryson, and his nephews, Jeff Mauldin, Derick Mauldin and Michael Singley; Sam Fortenberry, Michael Woodall, Reuben Lowe, Tony Boyd and Jason Prater will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
